Germany - Weissenhorn - Passing through in October 2019
A few signs we are heading home
The Lion |
We hit Germany just after Salzburg and then headed North via Munich and Stuttgart. Its not the easiest of drives as it is very busy and bedeviled by roadworks. We had our overnight stop booked in the pretty town of Weissenhorn near Ulm. We stayed at the Lion Inn (Gastof zum Lowen), a lovely family run hotel in the Town Centre. We were there Friday night and Saturday morning. Friday night, our destination was the lively brewery up the road. Good beer and nice big Germanic portions. Lots of locals out for a meal and a few bevvies so a good atmosphere. Next morning was bright and sunny, perfect for a stroll around town. The locals were out doing a bit of shopping. A couple of weddings looked to be in progress. We liked the Posties yellow cargo bike stuffed with local correspondence. Good job there was no wind otherwise it would have been scattered down the street. Anyway, Weissenhorn was a great place to overnight and not too far from the Autobahn. The Lion Hotel breakfast was just lovely. Would have liked to stay another night and used the bikes for a bit of a tour but we had a deadline to meet and the tunnel was booked.
The postie takes a break, not sure he likes being photographed! |
